Deck Check: Elves

I recently played Friday Night Magic in our local MTG shop. I piloted a Mono Green Elves deck the same list that made the top four on one of Star City Games 5k event. After playing four rounds with this deck I ended up with a round score of 2-2, and my game score is 4-4. My wins came against Big Red and a Red/Black Home Brew decks My losses came from Valakut Titan and UW Control.

Even with that score I still think that the deck performed well. Most of my losses were really close. During my match up against the Valakut deck, I got my opponent down to 4 in game one and in game two I dropped him to 7 before he got going. I could have won game two if for my opponent having three lightning bolt in his opening hand. If he’s only had one Bolt, there’s a big chance that I could have out race him. When I played against the UW Control deck lost game one because he had two Day of Judgment no one can recover from that. I won game two with Vengevines. Luck was not at my favor in game three as I mulled my hand down to five cards then he played Day of Judgment in turn four killing all my creatures. Even though I lost those games I’m still satisfied with the result. More practice and a little bit of luck will help me win in my next tournament.
